Recently, a shocking incident of CCP "transnational repression" occurred at the Bloemencorso Bollenstreek, the grandest spring flower parade in the Netherlands. Liu Wei, an official Chinese representative in the Netherlands and Director of the China Cultural Center in The Hague, publicly and forcibly snatched protest signs and a mobile phone from peaceful demonstrators on the streets of Haarlem, while also intimidating journalists on site. The exposure of the video showing this aggressive behavior triggered a global uproar, with cumulative views across major social media platforms approaching 2 million within just a few days.

In response to the CCP's long-arm jurisdiction and violent acts, on April 25, the "Voice of Anti-CCP NL," alongside Uyghur human rights activists, held a joint protest directly outside the headquarters of the China Cultural Center in The Hague. They strongly demanded that the Dutch government close this espionage front and expel the official involved, Liu Wei.

The conflict occurred at 11:30 AM on April 19 in the flower float exhibition area in Haarlem. Next to the float of the "China Cultural Center in The Hague" (which operates under the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism), several members of the Voice of Anti-CCP NL held a peaceful demonstration.

The demonstrators presented a highly metaphorical poster to the Dutch public: it depicted the Center's float as a "CCP Trojan Horse" hidden among traditional Dutch windmills and tulips, symbolizing the CCP's infiltration under the guise of cultural diversity. The poster included a bilingual slogan in Chinese and Dutch: "Close the China Cultural Center! (Sluit het China Cultural Center!)".

This move hit a nerve with the CCP's overseas apparatus, provoking extreme anger from the Center's director, Liu Wei. Liu rushed the demonstrators in public, forcibly snatched the signs, and refused to return them. He absurdly claimed that the protesters had "personally insulted him" and that he felt "wronged." When event organizer Jiang Peikun began recording the conflict with his phone, Liu threatened to sue for "infringement of portrait rights." When his warnings were ignored, Liu escalated by directly attempting to snatch Jiang's phone (which Jiang subsequently managed to get back).

During the scuffle, protester Yu Yang fought hard to wrest the snatched sign back from Liu's hands and held it high above his head, drawing the attention of numerous international tourists and media. Meanwhile, Liu's wife stood nearby, using her mobile phone to record targeted, close-up footage of the demonstrators' faces, sparking fierce indignation among the protesters. Demonstrator Jiang Hong bravely reprimanded her, demanding she stop filming and delete the footage, to which Liu's wife arrogantly replied: "Who told you to stand in front of our float." Another demonstrator, Wei Zhijian, sternly retorted on the spot: "If China is so great, why don't you go back?!" Humiliated and angry, she refused to respond directly.

Even more shockingly, Liu Wei not only snatched personal property on the street but also attempted to interfere with Dutch press freedom. Through the Dutch police who arrived at the scene, he relayed a threat to the Dutch journalists filming the event: "If you post the videos and photos online, you will face legal consequences."

▍ International Uproar: Nearly Two Million Viewers Witness CCP Official's Disgraceful Behavior

Videos of Liu Wei's public loss of control and aggressive behavior spread explosively online, becoming the latest focal point for the international community to scrutinize the CCP's "transnational repression." To date, platform data shows:

  • Taiwan's Liberty Times Facebook page reported on the incident under the headline "Violent Interference in Anti-CCP Protest Slammed! CCP Official Has a Meltdown: Why Are You Insulting Me?", amassing over 890,000 views and 1,470 interactive comments, with its X (Twitter) video exceeding 50,000 views.

  • NTDTV's Facebook video titled "Chinese Protest Scene: CCP Official Enraged! Commits Public Robbery and Claims to Feel 'Wronged'" surpassed 660,000 views.

  • The Epoch Times Facebook report titled "This Is Not China! CCP Overseas Personnel Use Violence on the Street" recorded 330,000 views.

  • The original video posted on the Voice of Anti-CCP NL's official X (Twitter) account also reached 31,000 views.

  • In addition, multiple mainstream international media outlets, including Malaysia's China Press, have provided detailed follow-up coverage.

Netizens worldwide have expressed profound shock and outrage over the CCP official's trampling of free speech on the soil of a democratic country.

▍ Voices of the Protesters: This is Blatant Transnational Repression and Infiltration

Afterward, several political dissidents who participated in the protest were interviewed, profoundly exposing the malicious nature of the CCP's overseas institutions.

Wei Zhijian, a member of the China Democracy Party Netherlands Headquarters and advocate for the Guangxi independence movement, stated: "I was looking forward to seeing a display of diverse cultures but unexpectedly witnessed a shocking scene. The China Cultural Center in The Hague ostensibly promotes Chinese culture, but in reality, it operates under the guidance of the Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands. It serves as a vital platform for the CCP to carry out systematic cultural and political infiltration overseas and participates in the transnational repression of dissidents. Liu Wei's vile actions today fully expose the realistic threat these 'cultural centers' pose to freedom of speech in Dutch society. This once again proves that the CCP's overseas institutions are not mere cultural ambassadors, but tools used to suppress dissent and interfere in democratic nations. I urge the Dutch government and the public to remain highly vigilant and to resist this."

Yu Yang, an anti-CCP activist from Anhui and member of the China Democracy Party Netherlands Headquarters who reclaimed the sign during the conflict, emphasized: "The CCP official snatching our signs and phones made me very angry because it violates the fundamental principles of free speech. In a free society like the Netherlands, we were merely expressing our opinions peacefully, yet our property was snatched away by their personnel. This behavior itself demonstrates that the CCP's political pressure is extending overseas. This is already naked transnational repression."

▍ Joint Protest in The Hague: Uyghur and Han Dissidents Unite to Strike Back

In the face of the CCP's arrogance, on April 25, the "Voice of Anti-CCP NL," joining forces with Abdurehim Gheni, President of the Support Uyghurs Foundation (Stichting Support Uyghurs), headed to the entrance of the "China Cultural Center" in The Hague to stage a fierce protest.

Despite facing facial recording threats from CCP officials on the 19th, protesters including Jiang Peikun, Yu Yang, and Jiang Hong remained unafraid of intimidation and once again stood on the front lines of the protest. Various oppressed groups united at the scene, holding high the same signs that Liu Wei had snatched, and chanting in unison slogans such as "Sluit het China Cultural Center! (Close the China Cultural Center)", "Liu Wei, rot uit China! (Liu Wei, get out of China)", and "Fascist CCP! Terrorist China!".

The protesters strongly demanded that the Dutch government immediately shut down this espionage stronghold and expel Liu Wei, who trampled upon Dutch law.

Currently, the "Voice of Anti-CCP NL" has treated this case as an incident of "structural transnational repression" and has formally submitted evidence to the relevant Dutch intelligence and law enforcement agencies. Simultaneously, a well-known local Dutch investigative media outlet has intervened and is conducting an in-depth investigation into the political infiltration network behind the institution. The organizers of the flower parade have also responded to the Voice of Anti-CCP NL via email, confirming that an internal grievance process has been initiated.

The CCP's "soft power" packaging cannot conceal its totalitarian expansionist ambitions. If the free world does not strengthen its resistance, what happened yesterday on the streets of Haarlem could become the norm in Europe tomorrow.
